You may ask what is an MLM? Multi Level Marketing. Some view this business model as a pyramid scheme. I say it’s an opportunity. Let’s be honest. The way that the world is right now. We all can use some extra income. Being a single mother has its limitations. Most single mothers do not have the opportunity to pick up a second job to help make ends meet. MLM’s offer an opportunity to earn extra income your way. You do not punch a clock. You can work from anywhere, from your phone. While the kids play on the play ground, while cooking dinner. The opportunities are endless.
This may sound like the ultimate side hustle. It can be. However, if the business opportunity is not aligned with you. It will be difficult to manage. Do not jump at every opportunity presented to you. First, think about what you enjoy. Is it organization, purses, bags, jewelry, makeup, travel, fitness, nutrition? There are MLM companies that cover every facet in life. You want your business to align with you. If it does not, you will come across a spammy and un-relatable. To be successful. You have to encompass the; “Know, Like and Trust Factor”.
Most work their businesses on social media. If you look at your current friends list, you will see similarities in your friends. Are they parents? Do they work full time? Do they stay at home? Are they into fashion and jewelry? Do they share the same beliefs as you? Believe it or not. These people are your people. You already speak there language. You have their trust. Now to turn your friends list into a customer list. This can be tricky, but it is totally manageable.

With the MLM structure, you will have an up-line. Someone who introduces you to the company. Again, you want to choose an up-line that is aligned with you. How did this person connect with you? Did you receive a random spam attack message? If you did, you do not want to align with this person. If you truly want to represent said company, I would choose to align with a different up-line. Or, were you naturally drawn to this persons content? Did you enjoy watching their lives and reading their posts? This is the person that you want to connect with. This person will show you how to encompass the know like and trust factor. This will ultimately result in success.
In that short amount of time. You’ve accomplished a lot. You didn’t leave the house. You’re in the comfort of your home, on a device scrolling on social media. This is something that you would normally do. However, you will begin to spend this time differently. Your interaction on social media will now be strategic. Begin by planning your introduction post. You want to announce to the world that you’ve joined a great opportunity. Don’t jump the gun on this post. Take your time and plan it out.

At this moment fear may creep in. This is perfectly normal. Planning will help. If you struggle with planning. You can pick up a guided content creators planner. This is the planner that I used at the beginning of my MLM journey: https://amzn.to/4ax8FlP. This is an investment, but oh so worth it. Use this planner to begin your journey. Once you’re comfortable, content creation will become second nature. There should be a mix in content format. You are now using your social media to market and gain customers. Again fear may creep in. You may feel that you don’t have the slightest idea on how to market to people. You may not know how to find your why. Here is a list of books that were great resources for me.

You’ve made great progress. You’ve planned your content. You’ve done your research and now it is time to launch. Post your teaser post. This post is meant to get your followers intrigued. However, this post does not spill all the beans. You also want to share your “Why” with your audience. This solidifies relatability. The moment of truth, going live.

Don’t run from this post. I promise you. This is not as difficult as it seems. Remember, you’re prepared for this. Your up-line and side-line should be coaching you as well. You’re just going to talk with your audience. If your business is beauty and skincare. Go live and chat while doing your make up. You can talk about anything. How your children eat all the snacks. How your partner snores. How your neighbors fight all the time. The topic doesn’t matter. Honestly the product doesn’t matter either. You matter. Your audience is relating to you. So clutch your pearls and press live. You may stumble, but keep going. You’ll ultimately have fun speaking with others. It will also give you some time to yourself to work your business.
It’s now time to take off. You’ll do great as long as you stay true to you. If you found this helpful and would like additional 1:1 help building an online business and brand. Click the contact button and let’s chat.
